Action spectroscopy of deprotomer-selected hydroxycinnamate anions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Tandem ion mobility mass spectrometry-coupled laser excitation is used to record photodetachment, photoisomerization and photodepletion action spectra for a series of deprotomer-selected hydroxycinnamate anions, including deprotonated caffeic, ferulic sinapinic acids. This molecular accounts most hydroxycinnamic moieties found in nature. Phenoxide deprotomers para ortho structural isomers have similar photodetachment that span the 350 – 460 nm range with maximum response occurring between 420 440 nm. None phenoxide showed evidence E $$\rightarrow $$ Z photoisomerization. In contrast, photoexcitation carboxylate caffeic acids meta-phenoxide deprotomer acid initiates intramolecular proton transfer give para-phenoxide deprotomer. Photoexcitation ortho-coumaric does not result transfer, presumably due substantial barriers rearrangement. For meta-coumaric acid, interconversion occurs spectrometer drift region where effective temperature $$T_{eff}\approx 299 K.

Gas phase vibrational spectroscopy of mass-selected vanadium oxide anions.

The vibrational spectra of vanadium oxide anions ranging from V(2)O(6)(-) to V(8)O(20)(-) are studied in the region from 555 to 1670 cm(-1) by infrared multiple photon photodissociation (IRMPD) spectroscopy. The cluster structures are assigned and structural trends identified by comparison of the experimental IRMPD spectra with simulated linear IR absorption spectra derived from density functio...

Photoelectron spectroscopy of nickel-benzene cluster anions.

(Nickel)(n)(benzene)(m) (-) cluster anions were studied by both mass spectrometry and anion photoelectron spectroscopy. Only Ni(n)(Bz)(m) (-) species for which n > or =m were observed in the mass spectra. No single-nickel Ni(1)(Bz)(m) (-) species were seen. Adiabatic electron affinities, vertical detachment energies, and second transition energies were determined for (n,m)=(2,1), (2,2), (3,1), ...

Photoelectron Spectroscopy of Benzoquinonide and Dehydrobenzoquinone Anions

The 364 nm photoelectron spectra of the dehydrobenzoquinone (1•-) and benzoquinonide (2-) anions are reported. For 1•-, the unambiguous assignment of the origin peak yields an electron affinity (EA) of 1.859 ( 0.005 eV. Several vibrational modes of 1 are also reported. Another minor feature at higher electron binding energy is also observed in the spectrum of 1•-. This band does not contain any...

Photoelectron spectroscopy of multiply charged anions.

Multiply charged anions (MCAs) are common in condensed phases but are challenging to study in the gas phase. An experimental technique, coupling photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) with electrospray ionization (ESI), has been developed to investigate the properties of free MCAs in the gas phase. This article reviews the principles of this technique and some initial findings about the intrinsic pro...
